Nobody wants to fall victim to a scam.  Keep in mind that scams come in various forms such as emails.  Although some of these methods are pretty obvious, others may be hard to recognize, particularly if there is a crafty salesman involved. Fortunately, there are some ways to help you avoid a scam.

Make sure to research any companies who are trying to request for your participation or your money.   Check out their standing in the BBB or what other people think about them. Pay close attention to the way the person deals with you. People who talk in sales pitches talk fast and blur over problems should be avoided.

Before you sign anything, make sure to read everything. Keep in mind that legitimate work does not cost you anything upfront, so make sure to steer clear of those that demand upfront fees. If you have to get 500 people before making  an  income, consider if you know that many people who would sign up, this is a good way to avoid a scam.  Be attentive to what someone is pushing and determine if he or she is trying to draw attention to hundreds of unimportant details. Maybe this is because the company lacks real substance.
