What is a Scam?

A scam is a dishonest aim to trap you into parting with your funds. It is a fraudulent business scheme that has been around for many years now. With the ever-increasing availability of mass communication methods, a scam has the potential to target a lot of innocent consumers. A scammer could do a personal approach, offering something that is too good to be true. Others may phone you, email you or post an offer that urges you to take up.

Most scammers use persuasive methods that you will find hard to resist. Sometimes, they could make you feel you are inadequate or petty if you question or resist the offer. Nevertheless, there are some ways where you can protect yourself from scammers. You should be wary of whoever and whatever you are dealing with. Make sure to always check out the credibility of a person or a company before you proceed.

While the actual message could differ, the intention remains the same, to get money from   you either by selling goods or offering services which aren’t commensurate with the charged price or by outright swindle. A scam could reach a target audience in a lot of ways. These range from one-person door-stepping operation to multinational sophisticated telemarketing scams.
