Being peevish means being discontented, fretful and hardened. There are also instances when one becomes stubborn. Moreover, others see it as being uptight. A person who is peevish or uptight is overly rigid panicked or flustered at a mention of something that he or she does not like or he or she objects.
A person who is peevish tends to make a mountain out of a molehill. Peevishness is making a big deal regarding little things. Those people who are uptight make it obvious to everybody around them that they object to certain things and ideas. The negativity on this comes from the public nit-picking where an uptight person makes it known to everybody how he or she feels about certain things.
Nevertheless, if peevishness is not made known publicly, nobody will realize that there are uptight people. For instance, a lot of people think that the Latter-Day Saints are uptight with regards to modesty in dressing. However, there are a lot of individuals and groups outside of the church who also have the belief that modest dressing should be followed. Being peevish should be minimized, particularly if the person is becoming more and more unreasonable and difficult about small things.
